What is Memristance?
In simple term Memristance is a property of an electronic component. When charge flows in one direction, its resistance increases, and if direction is reversed, resistance decreases.
When v=0, charge flow stops and component will remember the last resistance point. When the flow of charge regains, the resistance of the circuit will be the value when it was last active.
Memristor is all about Memory. Non-volatile memory is the dominant area being pursued for memristor technology. When it is used within caches and main memory, it will make these memories non-volatile. Memristors can be used to make new types of system memory that can remember information even after power is shut down. Potential replacement for the existing Flash memory such as the memory cards, USB mass storage, etc.
Memristor can be defined as a two terminal device which shows the relation between magnetic flux and charge.
Memristor is the fourth fundamental circuit element.
Benefits of Memristor Technology
Would allow for a quicker boot up since information is not lost when the device is turned off.
Hard Disk + RAM = MEMRISTOR
Uses less energy and produces less heat.
Eliminate the need to write computer programs that replicate small parts of the brain.
